Tycho really wanted to be a Seeker, but since he’d only gotten Chaser and a first year girl got to be Seeker, he was kind of taking the hint that he wasn’t very good at it. Okay, sure. Chaser was fine, he supposed.
Figuring it was more useful to practice the thing he was okay at and actually played on the team versus something he evidently sucked at but didn’t matter, the Lyra decided that was what he would play for the scrimmage today. He hung back and watched some of the others get their jerseys first so he could try to strategize which team he wanted to be on. He intentionally picked a black jersey because he saw Elliot take white and he liked playing against him, and because he saw Kit take black and Kit was literally crazy and he didn’t want to be on the wrong side of her bat.
Anssi got the Quaffle right away, but stupid ol’ Elliot intercepted his throw. Tycho felt like he was just trailing back and forth for the first couple moments of the game as he tried to keep up. He tried to get up close to get the ball back, but he pulled back a bit when he noticed Kit’s trajectory. Aiming at a first year. Savage, but mad cool. The kid got the Quaffle but dropped it in his attempt to dodge. He bumped into Tycho as he moved, but Tycho recovered quickly and shot after the Quaffle.
Fortunately for him, Tycho managed to outspeed Firstie Boy and capture the Quaffle for himself. Sweet. Reorienting himself from the dive, Tycho glanced around for an open Chaser in a black Jersey. (Side note: why were they even wearing gross shared jerseys? They probably could’ve just done shirts vs skins. Some might have argued that it didn’t work for girls, but they could just either 1) be on the shirts team or 2) be hot.)
Anyway, he spied Anssi across the way and did what he could to get the Quaffle back that way again, since there was no way he was going to get far enough himself to score.
