Highly empathic, Emilia is the first to ask someone "What's wrong?" when she notices them acting differently from normal. Unfortunately, this genuine concern can turn into aggressive needling if she does not get an answer right away: Emilia believes that expressing yourself is the best solution to any problem, and will not back down until the other person has worked their feelings out to her satisfaction. Although she does not gossip about other peoples' business, Emilia spills her own thoughts and feelings at the drop of a hat. She is not opposed to going to the counselor with her problems, but is more likely to turn to a friend or another student first. Emilia cries easily and wears her heart on her sleeve.
Emilia has wavy, dark brown hair that falls to her waist. She prefers to leave her hair loose, but grudgingly accepts the need for a scrunchie during activities like potions and painting. Her clothes (usually loose, flowy blouses and skirts), skin, and hair are often flecked with paint. She has a long, narrow nose, a heart-shaped face, hazel eyes, and a beauty mark on her right cheek. Emilia is the shortest person in her year and makes up for it with volume.
Emilia grew up in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her apartment building is very exclusive, and only allows pureblood families to purchase or rent property there. She and her parents are very close, and she idolizes her sister Daniela, who is seven years older than her and just began attending university for engineering at the school nearby the Rodriguez family apartment. Emilia attended a small, private Catholic school for her primary education even though her family isn't particularly religious because her parents thought it was the best academic option for her. She is bilingual and takes notes in Spanish because she writes faster in that language, which can make her a challenging class partner.
Emilia loves painting - though cannot always restrain her love to the canvas - and can often be found making a mess of one of the Lyra practice rooms. She aspires to paint wizarding portraits when she grows up and is regularly late to class because she stops to talk to RMI's painted denizens.
She doesn't like reading very much, with the exception of biographies, which she finds fascinating.
